There are not many kids that will admit to liking the rainy days. This is because kids love to play out and when it is sunny they can get their wish. But unfortunately sunny days are not everlasting and inevitably the rains do come, which means that they have to then stay indoors.
But it is possible to still have fun with your kids even when it rains. One way that this is possible is to pay a visit to the library. The local neighborhood library is a great source of interesting books that can keep the kids busy all day. It is also a good place for finding art materials so they can be creative for the day.
Another thing that can often keep the kids entertained for long periods of time is the good old scrapbook.
This can also be a great time for your family to enjoy some bonding sessions by putting on a home movie. If this does not appeal to the kids then get out their favorite movie and all sit down to watch it with some snacks and popcorn and make a day of it.
It can be worse when school is out or even at the weekends so why not consider letting the kids have a dress up tea party. They may also like the idea of baking and making cookies for the tea party.
Board games are always a firm favorite wit kids too when they have to stay indoors because of the weather. They always enjoy challenging the adults at games such as dominoes, cards, scrabble and the like.
If you have exhausted all of these options then it may be time for the kids to make up other suggestions for playing in the house. This can be done by individually writing down suggestions on pieces of paper and placing them in a box or hat. Then you just choose one of these suggestions at random and play that suggestion.
By keeping your kids busy on the days when it rains it can make them almost look forward to the rainy days in the future.
Besides parenting, the writer additionally frequently shares writing about knee pillows and bombe chests.
